HomeTravel Guide › How to Get to Merzouga

Merzouga sits in a remote corner of south-east Morocco, so getting there is part of the adventure. Here are your options from the main cities.

From Marrakech (≈9 hours)

The classic approach, crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass and Ait Ben Haddou. It's too far to enjoy in one day, so almost everyone does it as a 2–3 day tour with overnight stops.

From Fes (≈7–8 hours)

The scenic northern route through the Middle Atlas, Ifrane and the Ziz Valley. Again, best as a 2–3 day tour. A daily Supratours/CTM bus also runs Fes–Merzouga (around 9–10 hours).

From Casablanca (≈10–11 hours)

Usually combined with Fes or Marrakech on a longer grand tour.

By air

The nearest airport is Errachidia (ERH), about 1.5 hours away; Fes (FEZ) and Marrakech (RAK) are the main international gateways.

The easiest way

A private tour is by far the simplest option — you're collected from your hotel, the driving is broken into scenic days, and everything (camp, camel trek, meals) is arranged. Ask us to plan it.
