Todra Gorge — Morocco's Towering Canyon

A guide to Todra Gorge (Todgha Gorge) in Morocco: towering 300-metre walls, where it is, how to visit, hiking, and the desert tours that stop there.

HomeDestinations › Todra Gorge

The Todra Gorge (also spelled Todgha Gorge) is one of Morocco's most dramatic natural sights — a canyon where sheer rock walls up to 300 metres high close to just 10 metres apart over a clear river. It lies near Tinghir, on the classic route between the Sahara and the gorges, and almost every Marrakech and Fes desert tour stops here.

Visiting Todra Gorge

You can walk along the valley floor between the towering walls — the scale is humbling, and the light shifting on the rock through the day is beautiful. There are easy riverside strolls and tougher hikes up onto the plateau, plus rock-climbing routes for the experienced.

Todra & Dades together

Todra is usually paired with the nearby Dades Gorge, famous for its switchback road and rock formations, in the 'Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs'. Our 3 to 6-day tours include both.
